Atlanta News First – The Works is pulling out all the stops for Easter this year. On Saturday, March 28, the outdoor destination will host its sixth annual Hoppy Easter celebration—an all-day event featuring family-friendly activities and, for the first time since 2021, the highly anticipated Grown-Up Glow Egg Hunt.

The festivities kick off at 10:30 a.m. with egg hunts tailored for different age groups. Children ages 5 and under can participate in a hunt at The Camp at 10:30 a.m., while kids aged 6 to 10 get their turn at 11:30 a.m. Throughout the day, families can enjoy face painting, a petting zoo, craft activities, Easter Bunny photo ops, and live DJ entertainment.

As the sun sets, adults get their moment to shine. The Grown-Up Glow Egg Hunt check-in begins at 6 p.m., offering a unique evening experience with glow-in-the-dark face painting, a glow swag station, and an LED performance. The egg hunt itself launches at 8 p.m., with prizes hidden in glowing eggs scattered across the venue.

Fox 5 Atlanta – Who says you have to be freezing cold while picking out your Christmas tree?

Big John’s Christmas Trees and The Works on the Upper Westside (1295 Chattahoochee Avenue) are teaming up for an indoor Christmas tree shopping experience set to open to the public today. The space is scheduled to stay open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily through December 23rd, giving shoppers plenty of time to stop by and choose the perfect tree for their home.

The Works is one of six locations this year for Big John’s Christmas Trees, a family-owned business that’s been an Atlanta holiday tradition for more than seven decades. It all began in 1949, when “Big John” Livaditis linked up with a Christmas tree grower to sell trees at the Zesto Drive-In on Peachtree Road across from Brookwood Station. Today, Big John’s family continues to carry on the legacy of offering the best firs and pines harvested from North American farms.

Atlanta Magazine – Finding kid-friendly restaurants can be an onerous task; finding ones with patios that embrace kids and well-behaved four-legged family members can seem downright impossible. Atlanta has plenty of outdoor options for dining al fresco, but some are more equipped to handle the entire family than others.

If you want multiple fast options:
Turf is a common denominator in kid- and pet-friendly dining spaces, and both Chattahoochee Food Works and Alpharetta City Center offer large turfed areas. At CFW, head to The Camp, an almost completely shaded area in front of Your 3rd Spot. Grab food from stalls and restaurants like Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q and the Andrew Zimmern and Pat LaFrieda-developed Patty & Franks and set up shop near the low-rise play structures. Alpharetta City Center is more exposed to the sun with only a thin bit of shade running along the side of Chiringa, but what it lacks in cover, it makes up for in choices. There’s a fountain that kids use as a splash pad, and casual spots surround the square, like Never Enough Thyme and Boarding Pass Coffee. For a sit-down breakfast or lunch, try Hen Mother Cookhouse, whose Alpharetta location is just off the square and has an expansive patio.

11 Alive – More than 150 dads and their children came together Saturday morning for a walk focused on mental health and community connection.

The event took place at The Works on Atlanta’s Upper Westside. It was hosted by the Daddy Stroller Social Club (DSSC) — a growing national group that creates space for fathers to bond and support one another through shared walks and open conversations.

The Atlanta chapter, launched in May, held its first walk in July. Saturday marked its largest turnout yet.

USA Today – Along the banks of the Chattahoochee River in Atlanta’s northwest corner is a thriving section of the city known as the Upper Westside. Between Buckhead and downtown, it’s full of hip boutiques, breweries and green space. But it hasn’t always been this appealing.

In 2020, The Works entertainment district opened, helping further reshape this historic area. Here, it’s common to stumble upon live music, outdoor yoga sessions with Haven Yoga and even pop-up events featuring llamas. At The Camp, an outdoor grassy area complete with hammocks and family-friendly spaces for kiddos to romp, you’ll find comedy acts, parties and petting zoos.

Atlanta Journal-Constitution – City of Atlanta and nonprofit officials Friday celebrated the completion of the 0.7 mile Woodall Rail Trail, the first segment in Atlanta of a path that will connect the Beltline to what will become the longest continuous paved trail in the United States.

The $2.4 million pedestrian and bike trail was mostly funded by state and federal grants, with matching funds from the Upper Westside Community Improvement District and in-kind donations from the PATH Foundation.

The new segment begins at Ellsworth Industrial Boulevard and Elaine Avenue, where the Northwest Beltline is wrapping up construction this year, Dickens said. It ends at The Works, a mixed-use development on Chattahoochee Avenue.
